Katy takes the first set! 6-4.

Well done Katy. Lucic-Baroni is having an absolute nightmare so far, balooning balls over the joint, but Katy is doing all the right things, keeping calm and steady and taking full advantage, and also throwing in some great shots of her own.

Katy has just thrown a 40-0 lead to go 4-0 down in the second set.

Katy ended up getting bagelled in the 2nd set but is a double break up in the 3rd 6-4 0-6 *3-0 - she's great to watch, really gets at her opponent!

Yeah Lucic-Baroni really stepped it up in the second set, but her level has dropped back down again, and Katy is doing everything she needs to to take advantage. Playing very smartly and confidently, and willing to dig in and scrap away when she needs to.

HUGE!!

Such a mature performance from Katy. She judged it perfectly, got the balance of aggression just right, picking the right moments to attack. She rebounded from Lucic finding some good form in the second set and just dug in, got the opportunity early in the third, took it, and stayed so level headed to close out with ease.

So, so impressed with how well she read the situation. She never went for too much, or felt she had to go for something special to beat her opponent (contrast with Em who tied herself up in knots at times trying to be too clever because she felt the shot had to be extra special).

Very exciting result.
