Great effort from 15-year-old Katie in her first ITF PRo Circuit match, taking a set off a top 200 player! Ozaki will be Harriet's opponent in QR2 later today.

I know we have discussed this elsewhere, but since it has been raised again..
Sam and Tara's form is not great, but nor is it appalling. So for both of them I believe the WR 250 minimum guideline should be the determining factor for an LTA recommendation of a Wimbledon MD WC.
Current WR 250 is on 223 points.
Sam will be on 231 points on Monday week, currently equivalent to WR 241. She should be safely in the top 250 OK.
Tara will be on 219 points ( with 16th counter of 5 ) if she doesn't add here, currently equivalent to WR 252 so could be very close for her.
COming back to Katie's amazing result, I assume they are playing on grass outside today at Nottingham? Coz Katie, presumably, has barely, if ever, played on grass - her 'warm-up' BT event ended up being played inside. And, equally presumably, the Japanese woman played the recent tournaments in Japan on quasi- grass? So even more amazing (if I',m right . . . )
