I doubt they were about a lack of wild card (at least, not for this event) - at the time of the tweet in question, there were 5 Brits ranked above her who needed one (in reality 4, given that Amanda wasn't going to play) and it must have been pretty obvious that Katy would get one ahead of her too, given her young, up-and-coming status.
Don't get me wrong, I like Emily a lot and would be perfectly happy if she ends up getting a wild card here, I just can't see that she would have been shocked not to get one initially given the other players who also had a 'claim'.

I was thinking about this earlier but I don't think Sam or Tara should get wild cards for Wimbledon. Their form is well off compared to last year and I don't think either of them have beaten a player ranked higher than them this year certainly not in recent months. Neither of them have any chance of winning unless they get lucky and get an out of form qualifier.
Be interesting to see I believe it's next week the first set of wild cards will be announced.
