Really nice effort from Nik and Em, losing 64 64 to the second seeds in a close run thing. They recovered from a break down twice in the first set, but couldn't hold to level (including crucially at *4-5) and then had a couple of game points for a 42* lead in the second set (as well as being 30-0 up in the final game) but weren't able to close out.
I don't think the move indoors will really have suited them, given their love for the grass, but at least Nik got some points on the board this week to do some damage limitation (and she is now defending nothing except Quebec for the rest of the year), and it will be interesting to see if they team up again next week.
Yes, it would have been interesting to see how Nik and Emily's match would have played out on grass. Still looks a good effort, but overall it leave's Nik's damage limitation err limited.
But good to know she has little to defend for the rest of the year.
Katy is playing pretty well, had a couple of break points she could have done better with but Pliskova looks like she has another couple of gears if she gets in any real trouble.
She's definitely showcasing all the tools to get herself up into the top 300 pretty sharpish though.

Excellent comeback. She saved 2 set points at *2-5, the first with an ace, and then Sirotkina threw in a massive double to hand back the second break.
Sirotkina led 40-0 when she was serving at 5-5, but Jo dug in and despite missing her first break point she took the second advantage and easily served out to 15.
Sirotkina is basically throwing her arms in the air after every point she loses in disbelief and letting that set slip away. Great fight Jo.
I've seen Sirotkina play and Tara beat her very easily. She seems to be either a very hot or very cold player and it seems she went very cold half way through the match.
