RE: Week 23 - ITF ($75K) - Nottingham - Grass

Disappointing. A lot of that was on her, she just played a very strange match today. Really odd performance, she was so tenative in her service games but was breaking pretty much at will.

I still think Tara has bags of potential but I wouldn't be arguing a case for special dispensation if she is just outside the top 250 off the back of that one (and her general ranking slide in the past 12 months, particularly Lisa was going up the rankings when she was overlooked at only a few spots outside)

Daniilidou is too clever a grass court player for most British players as was Tasmine Tanusgarn.    Tara I think should still get a WC not a good year so far for her but remember last year

she was excellent unlucky to lose first round at Wimbledon

Jo up 4-2

Hlavackova just saved a break point with a second serve ace.

Jo takes her second set point in a very long game with a fabulous drive volley

A beyond stunning performance from Jo to win 63 62

She served brilliantly and took Hlavackova apart. Really amazing.

Good win for Joss and Anna

Naomi lost the first set tie breaker and then the scoreboard got stuck.

PaulM, Who has Tara got watching her? I mean, as a coach? or team? (tell me it's not Jeremy Bates . . .)

No idea, can't tell from the stream

Iain Bates, Jane O'D, Claire C and Jill M were court side cheering her on. Jane's her main coach.

Some good doubles wins there.

I would really like to see Joss and Anna reach the final here and break the 50 point ceiling they have had on any of their points scores ( the max from a 25K ) to help them push up their rankings.

As everyone seems to have got a good view from the streaming just thought I'd add a few court side observations.

Katy D: 1st time I'd seen her live and was very impressed. Very compact ground stokes, particularly like her double handed backhand. They don't look as if they are going to breakdown. They for me have top 100 potential. Serve is the weakness, which I'm sure she can improve a lot. Very good upbeat attitude on court.

Naomi: Started slowly but found her groove, moving well, groundies solid and serve spectacular.

JoKo: Back to her best, in a good spot now, very very pleased to see that.

Interesting to see Nik and Emily teaming up. A potential long term pairing ?

Nik seems in need of a regular partner and maybe Emily's future does lie more in doubles.

This has crossed my mind before without even seeing them playing together.

Certainly, successful today !
