I don;t really follow doubles much so I was just curious:
I see that in the last four, the semis, not a single top 10 seeded pair have made it. There's the 11th and 12th seeds and two unseeded pairs.
Is this normal? I presume not . . . is this a reflection that seeding doesn't apply well to clay? i.e. most doubles is on hard? (no idea, don't laugh if that's daft).
No seriously, CD, I think it is pretty unusual. Maybe clay plays some part, but it has been argued, I think rightly, on the forum that clay is more significant in singles.
I think it's more just one of these things, which can happen in singles too, although we have gone through many years recently of remarkable consistency in Slams from some of the men's singles players.
