RE: Weeks 22-23 - Roland Garros Men's and Mixed Doubles - Paris, France (clay)

There isn't much between the pairs but Sa/Pavic took the first on a tiebreak. its 6-7(5) *0-1

What a cracking doubles match this is. The boys are really fired up now as Huey relinquishes his serve only for the boys to play an excellent game on Pavic's to get the break straight back! *2-3

The boys had 0-40 at 5-5* but couldn't convert...

Treat double faults twice to give them 2 matchys! Saves both with big first serves.

Advantage... good return by Sa

Good return by Pavic gives them another MP... Ace from Treat!

Another big serve gives them another game point... Brilliant forehand from Sa

Another MP... Sa nets! Epic game this

But that's another MP as Huey nets a volley, Sa misses an easy pass.. ANOTHER deuce

Good intercept at the net by Dom.... Its tiebreak time!!!

I had a nasty feeling about this one...

R2:  Mate Pavic & André Sá (CRO/BRA) CR 129 (54+75) defeated (7) Treat Huey (PHI) & Dom Inglot CR 43 (24+19) by 7-6(5) 7-6(6) bleh

11 points with serve gave Inglot/Huey a set point, Dom went for the intercept but missed.

Sa with a volley gives them another MP, which Pavic converts with a sublime cross court pass

They deserved it over the two sets but Dom/Treat do down 7-6(5) 7-6(6)

Didn't see the match, but sounds a very good one.

However, be very disappointing for Dom and Treat to lose at this stage.

Not being going as well recently as they no doubt hoped. I heard Dom on the radio a couple of days ago, saying that it seemed his doubles ranking had been rising while losing tennis matches ( which of course can be the way at times ).

We still have a British playing flying the flag in the men's doubles! smile

R2:  (15) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 67 (33+34) defeated Simone Bolelli & Fabio Fognini (ITA/ITA) CR 331 (270+61) by 4 & 3

In both sets they got off to a flying start, leading by 4-1* before being pegged back, but at least they got there in the end - & relatatively comfortably, too! wink

*****

But for how much longer?

R3:  (1) Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan (USA/USA) WR 1 vs (15) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 67 (33+34) hmm

R2:  Alizé Cornet & Jonathan Eysseric (FRA/FRA) CR 314 (115+199) vs Klaudia Jans-Ignacik (POL) & Dom Inglot CR 121 (102+19)

Third match on Court 6 today.  Could be an interesting one:  the French pair took out the seventh seeds, Medina & Marrero, in three yesterday...

Was an interesting one but not the result we wanted as Dom and Klaudia, lose 11-9 in an MTB having lost the first set 12-10 in a breaker. Doubt that will have cheered Dom up much.

R2:  Alizé Cornet & Jonathan Eysseric (FRA/FRA) CR 314 (115+199) beat Klaudia Jans-Ignacik (POL) & Dom Inglot CR 121 (102+19)  7-6(10) 3-6 11-9

Edit

Beaten to a Doubles result by SC again. Mind you. No shame in that. Got to be fast to beat SC.

R3:  (1) Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan (USA/USA) WR 1 defeated (15) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 67 (33+34 by 3 & 1 disbelief

I thought that it would be closer, but yes these Bryans continue to be quite good.

So it's win one, lose one for the Murrays today, please...
