Yes, but the way Eugenie has come on, it is likely that if Laura is competing well with her she will be in a pretty good place herself. And on balance I still think that will happen, though many bridges to cross.

So Hev lost to an eventual finalist - and won more games against her than anyone but Sloane, who got 7 to Hev's 6.

Hev's at a good level. Not to say she would have beaten another seed ( though I reckon she would have had a very good chance against quite a few ).

I think most folk recognised at the time that she was up against a very good in-form player and had aquited herself well. But it is pleasing that subsequent events have certainly not suggested otherwise.

Actually I see that Petkovic took 8 games off Simona today. Score I'm seeing is 6-2 7-6(4). Not that that really changes much.

I didn't realise that Simona was still just 22 ( born 27/09/91 )
