Poor Bob, how ridiculous.

A few years ago ( and I presume still ) you could just saunter up to the line of ticket desks at the US Open and buy tickets including any still available for showcourt sessions.

I don't see it as any harm, having a match against Roland Garros comeback king, Robredo, broken up.

L128: (Q) James Ward WR 168 lost to (17) Tommy Robredo (ESP) WR 19 (CH 5 in 2006) by 4-6 6-4 6-2 6-4

A pity he wasn't able to build on winning the 1st set but 3 wins in qualifying and a set against a top 20 player who is good on clay is a pretty good set of results, especially for a player who had never even won a qualifying match here before!

I think if he'd been offered qualifying and taking a set off of Tommy Robredo a fortnight ago, he'd have taken it (as would we all). Good experience - and it's clear that he can belong at that level. On to the grass season!

Hopefully he can take some confidence and move in the direction of that top 100. Indeed get there sometime, because he has enough tennis ability.

Enjoyable match, I hoped in a win after the first set, but Robredo is too experienced on clay. Ward deserves the TOP100.
