RE: Week 21 - Roland Garros women's qualifying

Good grief. I went to do some gardening for a bit, thinking I'd follow when it got to the 'nitty gritty'.

So glad it wasn't gruelling for her and hopefully she'll be in good shape for the main draw.

Well done Hev xx

Wow, wasn't expecting that to be quite so plain sailing.

Hev's been really impressive this year ( now goes 29-7 for the year ), but had seemed rather less than her best self this week.

Today suggests it was maybe more that she was just feeling under the weather earlier, and that weather was just a lead up to a hurricane :)

Now Laura 724 ranking points, Hev 720 points.

Hev will now certainly be GB no 1 after Eastbourne, but be great if it happens here. And good that she'll go into Wimbledon as no 1 rather than just kind of inheriting it when poor Laura's big Wimbledon points from last year drop off.

And I see that that will now be Hev over 500 points from just this year so far. 509 to be precise.

This one required a bit of checking, but I'm pretty sure it's correct to say that this is the first time in the Open Era that Brits have come through both men's and women's qualifying at Roland Garros in the same year.

That probably means the first time ever - I don't think there was a qualifying competition for the women (possibly not for the men either) before that.

Beygelzimer has drawn Suarez-Navarro and they are playing today (sorry if this has already been said). Wouldn't have been a good draw but still would have been good for Jo to have played it. There are reports on TF that there was a dubious call involving a mark that went against Jo deep in the 2nd set which then caused her to lose focus (and the match).
