RE: Week 21 - Roland Garros women's qualifying

Broken from 40-0 at *55

Gutting. Not confident of a turnaround :(

Gutted. Losing tha game at *55 from 40-0 has knocked the stuffing out of her.

This will hurt.

Last set wasn't even 20 minutes.

Big collapse. Huge shame but the big crunch mentality needs work still. Nerves will have played a part.

Hope she bounces back. So close to a great achievement.

Sore one.

My goodness what a collapse! So close to the main draw then to fall apart like that? Maybe an injury. Real shame, I was hoping she would add to the good news of Ward qualifying earlier today.

She is first in line for a LL place at moment. Although Heather (and Begu) could overtake her on that front

Or do they do a draw these days?

Massive effort to win 1st set, 2nd very very close, but the back no doubt not helping led to a disappointing final set.
Still I do believe she's playing her best tennis of the year now, and with a decent draw at Wimby could/should make top 100.

As for Hev, clearly below her best, but still battled it out to get through, nothing more to say.

After he first 6 games which she dominated, she really struggled. She did very well to scrap out the first set and was a break down twice in the second. I think e back was a problem, her serving starts deteriorated very quickly. But that 11th game just killed it stone dead.

I agree she's playing better now Phil, by I have real doubts about her mental game. I think she's still too fragile when it gets tight.

Oh I 100% agree that mentally that is the weakest link. Coupled with the fact when she's a little bit off her best, her technique lets her down and instead of just missing the court by inches she tend's to miss by quite a bit more.

Purely on ballstriking terms she is a lock to be in the top 100 and to stay there, with the added proviso that she stays fit as she's very injury prone.
