Re the withdrawing early on from matches that medically players should probably never have started, and deny others, what to do ?
1) It is logical not to pay R1 / QR1 or give ranking points to players that don't appear.
2) It is logical to pay and give ranking points to those, who retire from matches due to injury ( and I don't see how one can clearly and fairly differentiate those matches, for which it was reasonable to start ).
3) It would clearly be better for the tournament and these denied if such players didn't appear.
4) With the relative money involves, it is probably asking too much for some sort of general morale code to always pull out beforehand in such circumstances.
I guess that if there was an easy solution, the problem wouldn't exist.
What do i know? when I was sick on a PE day at school I needed a sick note from my mum! Shouldn't there me some scrutiny for professional athletes that pull out of multi million dollar tournaments within minutes? so, god forbid they 'might' just turn up to collect points/money? Like who would do that lol
martina now a break up in the second set... exciting!!
