James is the first British man to qualify at Roland Garros for 41 years!
So how did Andy, Tim, Greg get in? Did they all have to wait until their rankings let them into the MD?
Andy and Greg never played RG qualies (and the latter would have still been playing for Canada any time he could have done so, I think), while Tim went out in qualifying in 1994 and 1995 then was a DA in 1996.

Got back and thought I'd work my way up . . saw Josh Milton (gloom), Matt (double gloom), - and then went and looked at RG completed matches - AND THERE WERE JAMES AND HEATHER being THIRD SET SUPER HEROES ****
Will now go and get a sandwich and read through the threads in peace and pleasure ::))
All those thinking there was a tiebreak in the 3rd - you're in good company, Neil Harman thought so too
Just in passing about one of my least favourite journalists: it's perfectly reasonable for 'normal' people to forget there's no third set TB.
BUT did Neil (a blinkin' tennis 'specialist') not look at the results from the previous rounds ?!?!?! There've been some high-profile matches that went late into a third set. They've been getting most of the RG headlines in France. Did he not notice ?
Does anyone in British media pay much attention to what goes on outside Murray and occasionally the likes of Ward and Evans?
The journalists/commentators/pundits in the highest positions are generally clueless about what goes on outside maybe the top 8. Some of the more respected journalists like Stu Fraser and a few others seem a bit more informed, but I never cease to be confounded by the some of trap that comes out of the mouths of the likes of Castle, Lloyd, Rusedski, et al.
The sycophantic commentating over the likes of Federer and Djokovic is incredible cringe-worthy to watch as well - it's quite clear they never watch tennis outside the top few players given how often they proclaim 'only he can do that', 'no-one else could play a shot like that', 'best point of the year', etc etc. So much disrespect to the rest of the tour. I can't watch a big match on BBC. Sky is sometimes a bit more bearable - particularly when Fleming and/or Shiras are commentating, who have more knowledge than all of the British commentators combined. The only one who I can stomach listening to is Petchey, who although still somewhat sycophantic, is a very likeable person and exudes enthusiasm.

I'm sure he knew - we all make mistakes when we're trying to do 3 things at once. (or even when trying to do 1 thing at once in my case )

You are a 'nice' person steven, and you may well be right. I remain unconvinced . . .
