Hmm, so I take it that Oli is saying that Kubler was on absolute fire. To be fair, I think Oli usually puts his hands up when he has been poor. Bit worrying though.

Hurrah for Mr Ward! Was hoping, but didn't expect that. Well done.

Does Alex have to win one or two more matches to get points?

One more. That would make him a finalist (6 pts). A qualifier gets 12 pts. And he's already won some money - I think its 340 euros.

Passably interesting article with quotes from James Ward's coach and Greg R.

(It says Tandy is in Germany with James ?? - is James just getting some clay practice there? Or is it confused?)

Seen Kubler play a few times and he struck me as a good player, but nothing really special. I know he reached world #1 in juniors at one point, but when you compare how he plays with the likes of Coric, Zverev, Kyrgios, Quinzi....even Kyle, he just doesn't come close.....no magic dust at all. And compared to the likes of Vesely and especiallyThiem.... not a patch.

It IS a bit worrying to be thrashed if you think you are playing OK.

Well, Kubler beat Kyrgios 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. Unless Kyrgios is injured, Kubler must be doing something right!

Zverev into the FQR with victories over Torebko and Mecir.

Probably a combination of Kubler being in top form this week and Oli 1st go on clay still trying to find his best game on a consistent basis.

Nice to see Torebko give Zverev a helluva game, even if he didn't come out the winner.

Fair comment! And he destroyed Garanganga to reach the Main Draw, so I can only say he must have found a new gear at this level.......

Fleming/Hutchins are warming up now and on live stream. Followed by Murray/Peers.

Just for the sake of accuracy, it appears that Kyrgios actually retired 3-2 down in the 3rd, so was indeed injured in his loss to Kubler.
