Tara's was no surprise but Sams form on this trip has been terrible.

Naomi probably just ran out of steam.

Oh dear.

At least Naomi embracing the amended ranking points system where going very deep and a title is what really helps.

I suspect that if either of Tara or Sam had won, Naomi would have probably had more motivation to put up more of a fight. Naomi's was the last match. She has had an outstanding few weeks, has played tons of tennis thousands of miles from home, picked up tons of ranking points, and was probably somewhat fatigued. As she was last on court, knowing her friends had already lost and were probably packing their bags for the airport to come home........the prospect of giving 110% to stay on alone in Japan probably wasnt a massive motivator. Her trip's objectives have been more than achieved.

Just for the (rather sad) record:

L16: (4) Samantha Murray WR 239 lost to Mari Tanaka (JPN) WR 300 (CH 287 last Aug) by 2 & 1
L16: (8) Tara Moore WR 255 lost to Jarmila Gajdosova (AUS) WR 254 (CH 25 in 2011) by 4 & 3
L16: (2) Naomi Broady WR 166 lost to Wang Qiang (CHN) WR 282 (CH 151 last May) by 4 & 2

Tara was actually ranked 1 place lower than her opponent despite being the seeded player.

Building on my earlier comments, the girl who beat Naomi went on to win the tournament........small consolation, but some perspective at least.
