RE: Week 20 - ITF ($50K) - Kurume, Japan - Grass

The general rule is to use the previous week's rankings - which I would say makes sense, not being dependent on when the draw is made relative to the rankings being updated.

The only exceptions I believe are the Indian Wells and Miami mandatories, which commence later in the week.

( though I think it was Miami this year where they initially ****ed up the men's doubles draw by using the previous rankings ).

Tanasugarn historically did best on grass, didn't she? I seem to remember some very strong runs at Wimbledon ....

You are spot on - She is great on the grass and will be a true test of how far Naomi has advanced.

50-50 chance and Emily+ unfortunately gets Anna and Joss as opposed to the wildcard pair.

Tanny lost to another Naomi on grass. She was beaten by N. Cavaday at the Aegon Classic, Birmingham in 2009 7-6(5) 2-6 6-4

Misses a break point and is broken

55*

Breaks to love

Tara wins 63 46 75

Tougher than I expected but given her recent form great to see her grind out a long won like that.

Well done.

Welcome wins for Sam and Tara.

And helpful re the pre Wimbledon WR 250 target.

Current WR 250 is on 216 points.

Sam now guaranteed 227 points ( so looks secure re that target ) and Tara now guaranteed 206 points ( so inching closer ).

Nice to see a return to winning ways for Sam and Tara. Both have reasonable chances in the next round as well.

Same emotion, just happy to get 2 wins on the board, Jarka will be tough in next round, but fingers crossed for a couple more wins.
