I was impressed with Kyle's performance today. The first set was a close affair, with Dustin taking advantage of his BP whilst Kyle didn't. Dustin was very aggressive facing 2nd serves, and had good success. He also hit some sweet dropshots. Dustin's level dipped in the 2nd, Kyle winning quite comfortably. Dustin received a warning for ball abuse in one of the service games he lost. The third set was close, the standard of tenni swas good. Kyle had a BP in the thrid game which he took. There were no more BPs in the set, both players looking comfortable on serve. No wobbles from Kyle as he served it out. If I'm hyper critical, I would say that Kyle made slightly too many UEs. However, most of these he made when he went for a bog shot, and often when there was not really an alternative. The shot selection was always correct. This is the type of match that we are feel Kyle has a very good chance of wining. He is playing at the level of somebody ranked around 130, maybe similar to Dan E.......
I'd like to see him back this up with a couple more victories this week so that he doesn't need to rely on WC's or messing around with qualies.
I was impressed by Kyle's performance today too. It was the first time I saw Kyle, I was curious after reading your messages. He showed personality today and that''s a really important side in tennis. Kyle seems confident and with the right mindset for a top player.

What impressed me was the way Kyle quickly learned how to cope with the attack. Early on, he was trying to serve kickers on the 2nd serve and Brown was just giving him the charge. Kyle seemed to change strategy in the 2nd set and if he saw Brown attacking, he was sliding the slice into the body and not giving him room to "tee off" on the return. I think this change of tactic played a part in why Brown's level dropped in the 2nd set.
There is still a legitimate argument to be had about the awarding of such WCs. Personally I am not as concerned as some folk, but the points they make, particularly regards fairness and comparison with other sports, have a lot of logic to them.
