Mike Dickson has just reminded me (I'm being a bit dozy today having counted 39 last night!) that today's win was Dan's 40th singles win of the year so far

*0-3

Dan got broken in a long game where he missed lots of first serves into the net.

Had a couple of break points in another long game but Weintraub held on.

Weintraub hitting the backhand well early, Dan not yet found his groove.

Dan hanging in there, saved a set point with a forehand winner and had three break points (not consecutively) as Weintraub served for the set at 3-5* but they were saved (two service winners, and 1 terrible backhand return ufe I'd say)

3-6

Come on Dan!

Update: As in the first set Dan is broken early... and unfortunately broken again. 0-3* cry

And I have to go. Hope Dan can find some way to come back!

freerider, only seen 3 games but there's a bit of everything from Dan - some clean winners, some super serves - and some nasty doublefaults and dodgy backhands.

He's 0-3* down. Not all one way though.

edit: and, on cue, Dan gets one of the breaks back

Dan is really struggling with his ball toss. A lot of double faults. Not over yet though by any stretch, Weintraub has been chucking in a few naughty ones.

Suppose it comes down to who wins the big points though...

2-3*

By the way, I've not seen much of Dan but that backhand slice he has is excellent. Bet its horrible to play against on the grass!"

Far better few games - some good stuff. Amir is a thinking man though. Close game at 4-3 but Amir holds and it's 3*-5 with Dan to serve.

Dan loses the second set 6-4; the score's a fair reflection.

Thought Dan did OK, looks like the kind of player that will benefit hugely from playing against much better ranked opponents. Hopefully he'll get to do more of that this summer.

SF:  (3) Jamie Delgado & John-Patrick Smith (AUS) CR 199 (112+87) vs (WC) Gong Mao-Xin & Peng Hsien-Yin (CHN/TPE) CR 424 (302+22)

The Chinese wild cards dumped out the Aussie second seeds, Bolt & Whittington, by 1 & 3 in the QF, so could prove a bit of a handful...
