That's the second match today won after saving multiple match points.
Has Tim Henman been coaching our girls in how to keep the audience on the edge of their seats? From what I remember he was master of the art of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, and vice versa.
JoKo saves at least one match point but Fichman the breaks for the match to gain some revenge for that Vancouver Final defeat
L16: Heather Watson WR 122 beat Claire Feuerstein (FRA) WR 124 (CH 116 in 2012) by 6-1 4-6 7-5
L16: Johanna Konta WR 114 lost to (5) Sharon Fichman (CAN) WR 90 (CH 87 in Mar) by 6-4 0-6 6-4
QF: Heather Watson WR 122 v Kiki Bertens (NED) WR 151 (CH 41 in 2013)
H2H 0-2 - Bertens won 2 & 1 in Luxembourg in 2011 and in 3 sets in Auckland in 2013. Bertens struggled last summer, with a 2-11 record in main draws between the start of May and the end of the US Open. She was then out of action for the rest of the year but seems to be coming back into very good form - for example, she is 6-0 in Fed Cup singles this year, including wins against Wickmayer, Vekic and Nara.

Nice try Jo. Fichman is a pesky player and her grinding style of play translates well onto clay. It would have been great to go a little further here but I think she's had a nice start to the red stuff and she might just sneak into Wimbledon by right.
Two escapes was maybe hoping for too much, but I hoped.
I am guessing that there's nothing particularly wrong with Heather other than lacking match practice and maybe particularly service practice. Consequently looks to have a fair way to go yet before she is back to her pre injury excellence. But she can pretty much always be up for a fight and this week should bring her on quite a lot.
Shame Jo couldn't come through that one. Would be nice if both made Wimbledon MD as of right to free up some WC's
Yes - just working it out, I don't think JoKo will make the original cut but she has an outside chance of getting in through withdrawals despite losing today.

Jo is currently projected at 107 (a win today would only have moved her up one place), and I think the only player who could realistically overtake her is Heather, who is currently projected at 112.
Both are really not that far away from the top 100.
