Surely going to be too hot on clay this week but be good to see Marcus meet him in the final a excellent bench mark .
When your used to competing well in challengers when you come back for odd futures can pick up easy 18 points like dan smethurst was doing at beginning of the year
He may not have completed the double bagel but he 15 points in a row at one stage and Matador Kyle (Toro? ... igmc) holds to 15 to deliver the coup de grâce:

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Interesting day of tennis today, some players playing above their normal level, some seeds below their normal level.
Jack v Liam
Liam eased to a 4-1 lead, lost focus, then Jack played exceptionally well, making very minimal unforced errors, to work his way back into the set and the match. Newcastle is a bogey tournament for Liam 4 years played, no wins and he knows it. Still though there were glimpses of what improvements he has made to his game this year, in particular a bigger forehand. Best just to write off this week as Newcastle just seems to drop his level. Shouldn't take away from Jack's performance which was very very good. Liam heading to the States next month, not playing grass court season.
Alex v Aussie
Alex played very well at times, but just at the wrong times he would put in a sloppy game which eventually made the difference. The Aussie played a very solid match and according to one of the players watching way above his normal level.
Kyle v Spaniard ( outclassed )
Kyle was supreme to start off with, massively improved and looking so much stronger physically than the last time he played at the Jesmond club. He then took the foot off the gas got a little sloppy by his own high standards but still the Spaniard was only able to win 1 game. The rest of the field have a chance if he plays like he did in the 2nd set, but on his 1st set show he must be the prohibitive favourite. Kyle has a WC into a challenger in Europe next week. Not going to bother with the FO qualies ( wouldn't get in anyway ), back in England for the grass.
Luke v Aussie with a South African surname ( a constant highly entertaining monologuer througout the match )
Great match and it looked like it would go the distance, until Bambo raised his level right at the back end of the match. Bambo loves a battle though, and I'm pretty confident he would still have got the job done if it had got tighter. A bit more on Bambo's groundies from the last time I saw him last year. Luke not playing grass court season.
Keelan v Wang
Wasn't impressed by Wang who also had an injury time out, but Keelan played well.
Other matches
Didn't catch much else as was focussed on centre court, but Steven is right to flag up that Toby's opponent is much better than his actual ranking as has just finished college.

Thats a quality report , did you see any of Marcus's match ?
I said was surprised that dropped 5 games but Marcus said aswat much improved and recently took a top 300 scalp .
Didn't really catch any of the rallies, just was occasionally tracking the score. Court 15 being on the far side. But I would agree with Marcus that Imran is a player on the up. Marcus was in good spirits as always #kingofpuns
With Kyle's WC next week I think it will be interesting to see his performances this week. He should, really, be after all 18 points with a certain degree of comfort until the final, but who knows how it will turn out.
Yes, I also found Mr van Peperseel ( whatever his nationality :) ) quite entertaining last week ( was quite an interesting contrast to a very chilled Marcus, who it struck me at a couple of points was trying not to laugh ).
I agree re Liam's forehand. When Liam was really flowing early on in his SF with Marcus last week, I was pleasantly surprised with just how much he was getting on that forehand wing.
Interesting that Liam and Luke not doing the grass court season. Presuming that includes Wimbledon, then that lessens the competition for Q WCs.

Add Ash and Pauffers to that list as well as they won't be playing any grass tournaments either. Ah Van P I just assumed was South African and not Australian, though his accent did have an Aussie twang about it.
