Congratulations to jack - that's a big scalp for him. Do hope he can stay fit.

Liam has had a good run in the past few weeks so I guess he'll just have to put this down to one that got away.

It's interesting how players can be one great form one week & win a title then 2 weeks later out first round

To be honest it's frequently happened to Marcus & now Liam .

What's the cause

1. Match ups - familiarity a player that's weaker on paper but successfully exploits known weakeness in the higher ranked opponents

2. Complacency - often  follows initial success needs to be a plan to counter it !

3. Recovery

Solution

Have a plan that asummes it's going to happen

Well done to Jack. Gary, you need to pass on to Liam the "solution".

O'Mara won the second set 6-4 and is now a (very) early break up in the third.

Willis beat Aswat 2&3.

Luke took the first set 6-4 but lost the second 3-6.

According to Phil, Kyle has a WC into a challenger next week. Might explain his decision to play here this week.

And Marcus and Jonny stormed into the doubles SF without dropping a game or even a point, OK without hitting a ball.

I assume that since the QF was a W/O rather than a bye that that's at least 6 points guaranteed. Nice work :)

Well done to Luke. As I said earlier I didn't really think that that was that bad a R1 draw, though I must admit that I hadn't twigged that van Peperzeel had beaten him last week.

He and Marcus should be on course for a QF meeting.

I was forgetting Luke could face Ashley in R2 ( Ashley being the seed in that section ). I would still though fancy Luke to come through.
