Yes but saying he is a teenage sensation is a bit over the top. Johnny is still developing his game if he breaks into the top 300 I would be shocked. Seen him play a few times not doubting he is a nice guy just don't build up doesn't need the pressure
Don't forget how attached Gary is to the use of hyperbole, scottie! Statements like that from him should be taken with a whacking great pinch of salt!
Hes helped one of our lads to back to back titles and not even a wee Dram to celebrate so the wee ladie is a Marvel , he's sensational he's won me over but being a young Scotsman he was always gonna be half way there ock aye !

thanks SC it is just I followed David Brewer for years and nothing happened no break through. Johnny may be Scotlands no 2 but then I would disagree its probably Cameron Norrie he has a Scottish mother but who really cares I don't lol

If a teenager and you make top 800 by 18 years then by GB standards your a bit special !
Jimmy greaves was special GB player but he was not pele .
Fair play to Torebko, he was very good against Kyle and again today, but if only it had been played indoors from the start. Ash was the better player once it had moved indoors, as Torebko was unable to flatten out his groundstrokes, but Ash was already a break down in the second once the change was made. It was much easier to hold your serve indoors.
Still a great week for Ash and something to really build on, more clay on the forthcoming agenda.
Good week from Ashley. I wasn't overimpressed with him in his Edinburgh SF against Neil Pauffley, which Neil won comfortably. It was though Ashley's second match that day. Does seem to be coming back into better form and does do pretty well on clay generally.
Clearly seems that the best player of the week won the tournament, certainly the appropriate one in the final, it being nominally an outdoor clay tournament.
I guess it does mitigate Kyle's loss to Torebko, although I'd still be a bit concerned by that. Kyle has still to develop real consistency from match to match.
Especially as it comes under the heading in big red letters "Willis and Burton win Newcastle Doubles Title". I'm sure Jonny is delighted with that - NOT.
I didn't even notice that - I guess the writer has got so used to writing that each week that it's now on auto-pilot. Judging by the URL, spelling Newcastle's a bit of a problem too

I was stood about a couple of yards away when that interview started before I dashed off to see how Ash was doing on centre court. The pair have great oncourt banter, we know Marcus can hold his own in that area but Jonny has a great ability for the one liners as well :)
