Hee Hum.

In my opinion, Dan simply ( as much as anything is ever simple in his case ) doesn't play enough tournaments and consequently doesn't have enough matchplay nor play near his best on enough occasions.

Frustrating.

And if you are only going to play 9 events in the first 6 months of the year, playing 3 of them on a surface where you know you'll take a thumping is silly.   I acknowledge that the DC didn't really help.  His points totals are feast or famine. He has two 60 pointers from last August, then after then his next points hauls from Challengers are 17 from Nottingham then 8 from Sacremento. He needs some consistency at Challenger level.  He has 235 points to defend in August.  He needs some Challenger  semi final appearances to smooth things out. I think he should have gone to Korea.

I hope he fares better in Heilbronn....

I'm in agreement about lack of matches and fitness, but Dan is what he is - doesn't like travelling and does what he wants when he wants.

The issue is less him doing what he wants when he wants, but the amount of time, effort and money being invested in him ( because the LTA and seemingly particularly Leon Smith recognise the real talent he has ).

For that, he should be prepared to sacrifice more than it appears he does.

He will get matches in shortly. I expect him to play French Qualis then full grass season. Short break and then US hard court season.

It's easier to manage the rest of the top 25 than Daniel Evans -

First word to comes into my head "Talented " 2nd word  "unmanageable " and to be fair to the LTA they have pretty well worked that out ! .

Sadly Dan is very impulsive not  thinking of the consequences highlighted by encouraging Lewis to run off to Rome like a star struck teenager Last week and that's not worked out too well either has it !

Expected the Skupskis to really push on this year, but not quite happening for them so far.

Oh, it's all relative. Of course a CR inside 200, indeed now inside 150, is very good. I just fancied that there was quite a bit more to come and hopefully there will be.

It's still early days gets tough and gets harder as you climb the rankings .

Been playing a lot of tournaments maybe it's time to take stock and invest in coaching and an intensive training block
