RE: Week 19 - Challenger (€42,500+H) - Rome, Italy (Clay)

Rome - I guess for Burts realistically was always about the doubles so what's happening on that score ? Bertie said wa going bring back lots of doubles points lets hope it does not turn into Bertie getting in a muddle and where's Jeeves ?

Natives - you sure you are allowed to say that in GB 2014 ? Lol

Of course. If you start blindly equating nativity with 'Britishness', however, then you are stepping into controversial territory. smile

For Lewis, I'm very much hoping that he has an excellent run with Dan. However, I'm wondering what the situation is with Evo himself. If Evo went deep in the tournament, then would he stick with the dubs despite the possibility of fatigue?

OOPS !!!!

I presume that that's even using Evo's singles ranking ?

Of course, it can happen and does happen to plenty, that they misjudge the likely strength of the field. But in all the circumstances...

I can't remember exactly when the rankings for doubles entry are taken but their combined entry ranking now would be 395 (Dan singles 133 & Lewis doubles 262) and the cut was 377, i.e. the equivalent of two top 200 players. Probably means they are 1st or 2nd Alts.

Ouch. Feel for Lewis a bit here.

Huge blunder by Lewis going to Rome he's missed opportunity for 18 Doubs points in Edinburgh to zero points in Roma . He's also missed chance for 18 points in Newcastle that would have been favourites so 36 critical points gone begging In the race for the wimbledon WC cut - CR 400

Currently Marcus is now new PB 235 with Lewis lagging behind at 256  ( CR 491 ) but the good news is that their CR is now above Sean Thornley & david Rice .

Dan is 2nd match after 12.00 on court 1.  I'm guessing he'll be on around 12.30 UK time.  Should be interesting, but I'm not expecting much.

Their was some hope in the Lewis camp that might still get in the doubles draw is that still possible ?

Returning with no doubles points means that likely  to need to make the final of Nottingham challengers to claim a Wimbie doubles WC .

Will Sean Thornley and Marcus have sufficient time together to develop an understanding that produces  sufficient results in 2 challengers to benefit the wimbledon WC objectives.

Unfortunately, the "Court 1" stream is showing Court 3 - possibly linked to the way the OoP has the order of the courts as Centre, 3, 4 and 1 instead of Centre, 1 ,3 and 4.

Evo started with a bang - broke serve (to love I think) 1-0.
