Shame for Luke. But Marcus got kicked out in round one last week. Liam had a few early exits earlier on in the season. It happens. No harm done.

Absolutely true in the long run. But I wonder whether the question of eligibility for consideration for Wimbledon MD and Q WCs is making each match for those on the "borders" [250 - 350 and 450 - 600] take on additional significance at this point. Hope it doesn't distort feelings about individual wins or losses. As you say, everyone has bad days/matchups and good ones. And the overall direction of many of the players in question is really good.

Today has been a good day (and almost a great day) for the Brits in Edinburgh. Let's hope Liam can finish it off in style. He levels the match at 1 set all.

Liam cruising to victory now after a slow start.

Ryan P and Rob C manage to get the win in the doubles. Which is nice, especially for Ryan because he must be a big gutted about so narrowly missing out on the match v Brydan.

Mind you, poor Bélot (the 'french dude',as Imran put it) won't be best pleased - he was tweeting nice happy, upbeat tweets about being in Edinburgh - all chuffed - and now has lost in the first round twice in one day !

Hi CD. Mr Picky here. Ryan lost to Sander Gille. It was Jonny who missed out to Brydan.

Yep. Right on. I was having a twinge for poor Ryan and poor Connie (and poor Jonny was in the back of my mind) so it all got mixed up.

Toby seems to regularly win first round matches, but very rarely follows up(except in Israel) - now would be a nice time to do that, although I think Ashley is good on clay and will pick up decent points over the next three weeks.
Imran may give Neil P a scare and we will be cheering on Jathan against Mr.Angry.

Broady v Rob C will be interesting.
