RE: Week 18 - Great Britain F10 ($10,000) - Edinburgh (Clay)

Hmm, I backed noone as such.

I said that Liam looked the winner if he kept his level up, which I thought fair comment. As I subsequently reported Liam didn't keep his level up. And Marcus won.

I could supply diagrams :)

Only joking Indy ,

Liam is a talented player but i did say Marcus  had his blood up this week and he was chuffed on the phone to night my granfathers  home country has always been good to us .

Marcus phoned to Night he is in great spirits  . Neil P is a very good friend of Marcus 's I wish I could be in the Scottish capital to watch them in the final . Neils rediscovering his form but marcus is still on a mission & it's by no means accomplished yet !

Many congrats to Marcus on doing the double for the 2nd time this year - it is his 5th Futures singles title (2nd of the year) and 25th Futures title overall (singles and doubles combined):

FINAL: (1) Marcus Willis WR 360 beat (7) Neil Pauffley WR 559 by 1 & 3

Marcus should rise to a new career high of around 325 on Monday week.

Congrats to Marcus on a comprehensive victory. If him and Lewis were to split permanently, then it would be nice to see Marcus get a partner who shares aspirations in both singles and doubles.

Certainly, I do hope that Marcus continues to have real singles aspirations.

Well done to him this week.

Interesting Wimbledon WC situation building up and it is great that there is real compeition for these.

If, as usual, there are a total of 8 GB ( MD + Q ) WCs available prior to the QWC play-offs, I'd say that 5 are already booked - namely for Evans, J Ward, Cox, Smethurst and Edmund ( all possibly MD WCs ).

That would leave 3 QWCs up for grabs ( before the play-offs ) from say Rice, Willis, Golding, A Ward, Corrie, Broady and Bambridge.

It does look as if the Q WC play-offs could be pretty competitive.

There are no words or phrase in the great English language that adequately describes how I feel at this sweet moment so I will just quote from the Greatest Englishman sir Winston churchill who 70 years ago inspired not only our nation but the whole free world

Never , Never  give up ! .

I'll agree with the notion, at least. Great to see a result like this.

Gary, Churchill certainly came up trumps in pulling us through WW2 but he had plenty of previous !

I suggest this would indicate that he may not be the Greatest Englishman - depending on your political and ethical views of course !

Anyway we all thought you were the Greatest Englishman  biggrin
