Leon Smith watching on so time to impress, guys.

I assume he was there for the first SF too, and I hadn't noticed him.

Thanks for the on-site reports, Indy. I'm very impressed that Neil managed to win that SF in straights given the H2H stats between them, even if the fact that Neil didn't have to play earlier and Ashley had to battle from a set down must have had some kind of effect.

Neil wins and is now very close to breaking into the top 500.

I think he will be on 67pts, cut off is 68pts with nothing to come off until 10pts in June

And while you were typing that, I was looking up the same thing smile

However, the cut off is 71 from what I can see. Perhaps you are already taking into account other peoples points coming off etc. I am not that sophisticated. Either way, a win in the final would definitely see Neil back in the Top 500.  17 down, 3 to go, as I would say wink

Sadly, not sure where the other 3 would come from at the moment (apart from Luke)

Neil should be seeded next week, which should he play to his ranking, he will get into the top 500.( i looked at the in-running rankings on tennis forum yesterday)

You are quite right about the next 3. It will be a struggle. Milts, Marzi and Bambo are the next three and only Bambo seems to be progressing.

We are not far away from grass season, where i would expect George C and JWH to start picking up points, but they need quite a few.

Well deserved first set for beach boy ( Liam in his multicoloured shorts, pink shoes, white top and white cap ).

I've been surprised how much Liam has been the aggressor, his forehand particularly flowing. Pretty good hustle from Marcus, but Liam currently looking the winner if he can keep his level up.

My other hope is that Josh G might play a few tournaments during the grass court season. Judging from his tweets, he is still "keeping his hand in" playing league tennis in France, so maybe once the school hols come around and he has some free time, he may play a few tournaments.

Bob is off to check now how many points JG has to defend before the end of the summer.

Now that I am connected again...

Pretty good win by Marcus and impressive physicality. That was five long sets today and he was going well at the end, and did a lot of running particularly against Liam.

Liam had a pretty sustained and loud rant when at *4-5 30-30 he lost the penultimate point of the second set to a disputed line call. I was though actually fairly impressed how controlled and focussed the rant was compared to what I have heard occasionallly about Liam and the air did not turn blue.

Seemed to get it together OK for the third set, but was just generally much more inconsistent than he was earlier in the match.

Should be an interesting final. Neil was pretty impressive but Ashley helped him along. Marcus's win against Liam was certainly a better quality match.

Many thanks, Indie, for the reports - and congratulations to Mr Willis and Mr Pauffley on their SF wins. A good week for both!
