Oli lost 3 and 2. Excluding DFs Oli won only 1 point out of 31 on Borna's first serve. The kid is 17 and has barely filled out at all.....that's very disappointing really. Oli also served under 50% and won about a quarter of his second serves. I'm a closetfan of Oli's but this match......

nice hold to 15 to finish the match off 46 63 63. Dan seems to be equipping himself nicely at challenger level now. Long may it continue

Yeah Dan covers 8 points of his futures final 10 from last year. 2 challenger wins cover a futures title too so he might not drop back that much from the 220s over the summer if he can manage a win in each. And of course if he goes past the quarters in any he ll be heading towards the top 200. Big ask but will be interesting again.

I would dispute this statement.  IMO Borna is physically more developed than Oli.  He looks skinny in those baggy T-shirts he wears but catch sight of him whilst changing top and you realise he is really ripped underneath - shoulders a bit reminiscent of Nadal.  Lord knows how much time he spends in the gym.  He has gone from a really good, error free 'junior' game to a really aggressive, hard-hitting senior game within a couple of years.  I don't think it right to imply criticism of Oli for not winning that many points on Coric's serve.  Comments on his own serving stats might be more relevant and account for the scoreline.

L32: Oli Golding WR 327 lost to Borna Coric (CRO) WR 263 (= CH) by 2 & 3
L32: (6) Dan Cox WR 217 beat Chung Hyeon (KOR) WR 376 (CH 372 earlier this month) by 4-6 6-3 6-3

L16: (6) Dan Cox WR 217 v Nikola Mektic (CRO) WR 292 (CH 213 last May)

Dan has already won twice as many Challenger main draw singles matches this year as he did in the whole of last year. (4 cf. 2)

Dan should break into the top 200 with very few points to defend, however i'm not convinced he will progress much further than that at the moment.

I would agree with that Paulisi. As we've seen with many before 180 seems attainable for many Goodall Baker Bloomfield its the next level up that is often missing.

Maybe a liittle bit disappointing for Oli, but it is his 1st tournament on clay this year, also China isn't for everyone. Added to that Oli lost about 12 months of his development between June 2012 and June 2013 because of lots of niggly injuries.
