QF: (7) James Ward WR 155 lost to Robby Ginepri (USA) WR 442 (CH 15 in 2006) by 6-3 3-6 6-2
A missed opportunity though Ginepri was probably well up for this match because he needed to win this match and the next one to win the race for the USTA wild card for Roland Garros. James should stay inside the top 170 on Monday but will drop 10-15 places with the Challenger final points from China coming off.

A disappointing final set from James. What coach is he working with at the moment? I think he was hitting the ball at least as well as Ginepri. I think he let some disappointment affect him in the final set, and perhaps he should mix up his groundshots a bit more and ghost into the net more often.
Overall, the match was of a fairly high standard. It should have been closer.....

Judging by recent tweets, I think Beechy has been over there in the USA. Not sure if he is coaching Wardy though.
Ginepri was also playing for a MD Roland Garros WC. Not a small incentive. (If he reaches the final, he gets it)

The thing I remember reading in one of his interviews is that he absolutely hated traveling. He was happy playing in the US but was unhappy elsewhere and so stopped and it went all a bit pear-shaped from then on.
I also remember he was involved in some sort of motorbike accident, or something similar, and had to have an op on his arm/shoulder and was out for a while.
If Ginepri is not careful, he'll be having a foreign trip! Still, Paris isn't that bad a city....
A disappointing result after their heroics in the semi-final, but a good week for them nevertheless after a rather torrid time over the last few months.
