Great stuff ! Guez looking wonderfully disgruntled and dragging his feet towards the end. Kyle's done some great stuff on the amount of work he manages to get on the ball in his forehand. Well done - and Dad and coach must be worried they're not needed :)

I was able to watch the largest part of the final set. I didn't think the match was of ultra high quality with Guez making way too many errors, but I liked the way Kyle attacked the ball.  Does he have nobody at all with him? He was looking over to somebody at key moments.

I don't think fatigue will be a factor in his next match - a rest day yesterday and only 72  minutes on court today. I do agree that Cuevas is going to be a tougher proposition though - he won his last tournament.  It'll be an interesting match up!

He said in his interview yesterday that Greg wasn't there and that his Dad had flown back (unless I misheard that bit). But maybe I got that wrong, or maybe, as you say, there's someone else standing in, or just a friend/hitting partner who came along to support.

And agree, he was attacking the ball very well for someone on a clay court - so much more effect and work on the ball, real top clay stuff, especially on the forehand side

Great win - Takes him up to about 268

Very close to taking out former coach Beechy's CH ranking of 264.  It is going to take a bit longer to take out his new coach's CH ranking wink

Now there's a reason for the change I hadn't heard before...

Good to see Cuevas and Bolelli tiring each other out! It's 9-9 in the 3rd set tiebreak

Yes. Kyle shouldn't have too many problems with Cuevas now as Bolelli has just beaten him 11-9 in the 3rd set breaker in just under 3 hours. Kyle is 3rd match on Centre Court tomorrow. Play starts at 10am for those of you back in blighty.

On another note, there are 2 qualifiers, 2 WCs and only 1 seed (8th seed Starace) in the QFs

Yes. Saw Bolelli of course in the DC doubles and he was serving big that day. And with a CH ranking of 36, we should take anything from here on as a bonus for Kyle. Having said that, Kyle likes the dirt and the recent signs have been that a big win is on the cards sooner or later.

By my calculation, a win would put him very close to the cut off for RG qualies as well.

Kyle's match not before 2:30pm tomorrow.

With an open field it is a good chance to impress his new coach!

Very excited for Kyle and I hope Beechy is taking a great deal of satisfaction from this performance as it is the first time this year that kyle has had the opportunity to show his progress at the correct level ie. benchmarking of his performance under Beechys guidance. My understanding was that was Beechies role to over see and develop a couple of players simultaneously and Kyle has now developed to a level where he needs something slightly different so strategically for Beechy his job is done. Bar the hiccough on the west coast ITF fantastic year so far fingers crossed he makes RG qualification so can hop on the Eurostar for Le Weekend! Go kyle

I think Bolelli had a significant injury last year - he didn't play once after Wimbledon and has  played only 5 tournaments this year.  He won the challenger in Bergamo in February, so he is clearly under- ranked. Having said that, his other results this year have been decidedly ordinary. For sure, he is going to be feeling stiff and tired when he wakes up this morning!

I'm looking forward to watching!  Come on Kyle, this is where the big points start!  I think I'm right in saying that a win today would make this week his biggest ever points haul.

Yes. Good spot. I think you are right on that one. A win today gives him 32 points here (29+3), whilst his previous best would be a 27 from victory in a 15K.
