Oli playing some excellent tennis (didn't see the first few games, which was maybe just as well, given what steven says the score was!)
I was afraid he'd be a bit lacklustre after last week, hard to get going again, and the young man would have a point to prove. But all looks good so far.
JWH winning the first set is no surprise. Now for him to concentrate and keep up the level. And, even more importantly, if he wins, to manage to keep up the level in a few matches back-to-back ., . .
Oli wins 3 & 3. Extremely slow pace of play, don't think they obeyed the 30 second rule once, and walked very slowly to recover 1st serves that hit the net. I know its hot, but!
In the few games that I watched, Oli was not troubles, though he did throw in a couple of doubles.
Excellent match - Oli was boss for all the bits I saw, the youngster always on the back foot. Completely wrong, Coup Droit, brilliant !
(mind you, James unfortunately went out to the lower Italian as feared and JWH - well, did he go off the boil in the second (as he quite often does)? Or did Ash play better? No way of knowing . . .)
I don't know who led 6-5 in the tiebreak but it went to 6-6 then Ashley had a set point at 7-6* which Josh saved. Ashley now has a set point on his own serve at *8-7, and takes it!

Always tough to get too excited at a Brit win, when the vanquished is also a Brit, but really pleased for JWH that he managed to complete his win over Ash, 6-3 in the 3rd.

Especially when it's Ash and he needs the wins just as much !
