Naomi is now seeded fifth, and no longer plays a qualifier
L32: Naomi BROADY (GBR) WR217 vs. Chantal SKAMLOVA (SVK) WR419 (CH 397 11/2013 - former JWR16)
Lets hope there's no shady dealings from this dubious sounding new opponent.
The 'promotion' certainly doesn't seem to have helped Naomi - from playing a qualifier to playing someone potentially quite dangerous and going from the 3rd seed's quarter to the top seed's quarter. I'm sure it was just an inadvertent mess-up they had to unravel, though conspiracy theorists may be interested in the fact that the player who has taken over Naomi's original more favourable seeding position is Uzbek no. 1 Abduraimova ...

HOPING I'm not jumping the gun, but the number one seed in Naomi's new quarter seems to have disappeared, and there are now two qualifiers playing in the top match - so assuming she's withdrawn and been replaced with another Q
Great start. It seems to me that Naomi has got her mojo back so would be a great time to break into the top 200 before the grass and maybe spring a surprise or two in the gass season
Excellent scoreline against a potentially dangerous opponent and as CD implies, that change to the draw doesn't look so bad now the top seed has withdrawn
Updating with today's new rankings:
L32: (5) Naomi Broady WR 218 beat Chantal Skamlova SVK WR 431 (CH 397 in Nov) by 1 & 2
L32: (7) Tara Moore WR 242 v (WC) Arina Folts (UZB) WR 873 (= CH; 17yo world junior no. 238) tomorrow
L16: (5) Naomi Broady WR 218 v Yana Buchina (RUS) WR 387 (CH 334 last Aug)
