QR2: (q2) David Rice WR 286 lost to Jeff Dadamo (USA) WR 592 (CH 480 in 2012) by 3-6 6-3 6-3

Pity, he looked to have a good chance of qualifying here.

Just realised that means both Brits in Challenger-level qualifying went out to players who had been on 5-match losing streaks - Samantha met with the same fate in Malaysia too

No sign of Dave & Sean in the doubles, either (not even in qualies). cry

R1:  Nicholas Monroe & Donald Young (USA/USA) CR 490 (57+433) vs (3) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 132 (63+69)

Very impressive - 77% of service points and 50% of return points won in the 1st set

He has 2 bps in the 3rd game of the 2nd set too!

Well, that's extremely impressive from Wardy - you don't often see him win from the front against a decent player without any wobbles!

L32: James Ward WR 157 beat (7) Facundo Bagnis (ARG) WR 152 (CH 112 in Feb) by 2 & 2

He plays the winner of the next match on the same court.

And seeds 3-7 are out already only 8th seed Polansky has won out of 6 and Donald Young 2nd seed in a tight match. Great chance for James to get back in the top 150 this week.

Yep. The ATP livestream (best livestream by far) has the Donald Young match versus 16 year-old German wunderkind Zverev.

Always interesting for anyone who wants to see the 'new' breed (or potentially new breed - we'll see).

Ah, the ex-wonderkid vs the wunderkind then.

phew-941.gif  Touch & go for a while (*5-7, then 5-8* in the MTB...), but things may be starting to look up:

R1:  (3) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 132 (63+69) defeated Nicholas Monroe & Donald Young (USA/USA) CR 490 (57+433) by 6-3 4-6 [11-9]

Let's hope so!   Their quarter-final opponents will present even more of a challenge, though:

QF:  Philipp Marx & Michal Mertinak (GER/SVK) CR 176 (85+91) vs (3) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 132 (63+69)
