RE: Week 16 - ITF ($10K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

Katy also seems quite perplexed about not finishing off today's opponent a bit quicker ...

"Dunno what i was doing there! Maybe i wanted another free bottle of water, cos you get one if you go into a 3rd set!"

That was a closer set than most bagels - Dasha even had 3 break points and won 38% of the points, whereas players who are bagelled don't usually win more than about 1/3rd of the points.

0-6 *0-5 down. Dasha holds serve to prevent the double bagel then breaks! Could she ... ? (I think we know the answer to that one but it's nice to see her still fighting when all seemed lost nonetheless)

yes danielle had chances 1/7 to 6/10 in BP
several GB girls seem to be well in matches on return against higher ranked players but have real trouble on there own serve - to the point of aalmost never holding
thats true in the womens game in general of course but we seem to have an acute case

I wonder which Bruzzone has turned up this week.... She can be very hit and miss, but Katy should beat her if on form.

Neneva S graduated from US uni recently (St Johns) so may not be the easy opponent UNR suggests.

Sabrina and partner, having dispatched the fourth seeds in R1 from a set down, found a Czech alliance too strong in their second match, and went down: 2-6 4-6

Katy though, who is top seed this week with Anna Morgina, moved comfortably into the doubles SF with a victory 6-3 6-0
In the SF they play the pair that bested Sabrina, Pradova/Vrbenska (CZE/CZE).

Katy has taken the first set 6-2. Hopefully no three setters today.

Another excellent win for Katy, and even with the goalposts continuing to move each week, that will surely be enough to get her into the top 500 on Monday week even if she hasn't made it already by then

QF: (5) Katy Dunne WR 511 beat (4) Giulia Bruzzone (ITA) WR 499 (CH 495 in Dec) by 2 & 4

SF: (5) Katy Dunne WR 511 v (6) Elena-Teodora Cadar (ROU) WR 489 (= CH)

H2H 0-1 - last week's winner Cadar edged Katy 6-2 2-6 7-6(5) in the semis here in December last year
