was hard to know who to cheer for in that one as both had little stories to tell
dom is doing good enough to make R1 through qualies often - as noted early in the thread - at $10K despite hardly being able to ever hold serve (she didnt at all today!!!) if she can really work on that serve and get something on it then shed surely be good enough for at least a point if not maybe a ranking
sabs next match up still to be decided

Good to see Katy win quite convincingly , lets hope she has a good run these next three weeks.
I'm guessing by Sabrina's consistency, she has overcome her yips. She will be back on the rankings ladder, which can only be a good thing for GB tennis.
Hopefully she pushes on. It would not be true to say that she has had unreserved support from this forum, and in retrospect my own comment when she was once drawn vs Bye was not my finest moment.

I wasn't around then so won't ask you to repeat your 'indiscretion' - but was there anything specific against Sabrina (that's not gossipy to repeat) ? Or was she just known for bottling it? Or things along that line . .
Can't really recall specifics, CD, just a few I think along the lines of she's taking a place up in the draw and maybe she should be thinking up something else to do. Was very much a minority.
Nor can I actually recall quite what one of the obvious hilarious one-liners I used re an off form Sabrina vs Bye. I do recall getting told off by another forum member !
Given ( but not only because ) she apparently had the "yips" overharsh !

I think she's at Gosling now, isn't she ?
CD - Sabrina was a talented junior and had started to make strides on the international scene, picking up points mainly in Egypt. Then suddenly she couldn't win a set, never mind a match and she went about 12 months without a win and all her games contained huge numbers of double faults.
Something clearly went wrong in this time period and i saw her play a qualifier at Wrexham during this run. Given she was funded with a coach, her serves were woeful and her forehand was really weak, it was clear she had some sort of issue - probably the yips - as you could hear her frustration on court.
The yips is my best guess, but there may be more to it. Injury, total loss of confidence and possible loss of funding may have been factors.
I think the fact that Sabrina went on such a long losing run and we all knew she was going to lose, it became an ongoing joke on the forum and also that she hardly played in the UK and very few had seen her play created doubt.
It seems she has taken some time off, re-focused and sorted out some of her issues and good look to her going forward. I do like it when someone proves you wrong.
Indy's transgrression was surprisingly recent last November, at the bottom of page 1 of a $10K Loughborough thread. Wolf's admirable rebuke is on page 2 of that thread, and is followed subsequently with contrition from some parties; less so from others.
Hopefully it's a bit like when Dementieva had her meltdown. Elena managed to come through it better than ever, and here's to Sabrina emerging victorious from her own battle too.
