Although you are right that the tables differentiate between 32Q and 16Q, I'd say that the real relevance and more catch-all is the number of qualifying rounds : i.e. 3 qualifying rounds : 10 / 14 / 18 and 2 qualifying rounds ( as here ) : 12 / 18.
For some reason they have 24Q here and 6 qualifiers rather than the much more normal 4 qualifiers.
*0-15, *15-15, *15-30, *30-30, *40-30, Ack! Deuce
Come on Sam.
Oh no Adv Fujiwara!
Save it, save it, save it, save it, save it, save it, save it, save it, save it...

Not the hoped for result. Well done Sam for at least giving it a go. Hopefully she's in the doubles, but it's still deflating.
As we wait for Laura Hev and Joko to get back to, or begin, regularly lighting up WTA events once more, there is one other Brit who is again having some success on the Main Tour: David Felgate.
His young charge, Vekic (still 2 months short of 18), made her 3rd WTA final here.
She did then have choke, if not quite of Jana Novotna proportions, from *5-2 in the third, including 3 blown match points, to be forced in to a TB.
She then duly won the TB in some style 7-6(4) in a match nudging 3 hours, and claimed her first title - the likes of Genie, Sloane & Madison still yet to achieve that feat.
I think we can claim some of that - we need to take our solace where we can get it.
Well done Donna & David.
I still can't get over the fact that she's only 17. When Konjuh came along she was overshadowed a bit, but when you think she's the same year as Katie B (who is doing well for her age group) it really puts things in perspective. Donna's a bit of a throwback to a decade plus ago when 16/17 year olds could transition rapidly onto the tour
Wouldn't be surprised if Ms Bencic were another winner of a WTA title before she turned 18. And with the 19 - 22 year olds making some significant strides and some of the top players injured, the WTA could become quite interesting in terms of changing of guards.
It's interesting though, thinking about relative ages of breakthroughs: Laura Robson and Genie Bouchard came through at the same time, but the latter seems to have taken longer to develop her game: she was still playing juniors and lower level ITFs when Ms Robson was already firmly in the WTA. Doesn't seem to have hurt her in the long run, though.

Well, David was saying this a little while back. That applying the matrix funding strictly (as they are supposed to in order to prevent accusations of favourtism etc.) then she would not be eligible. So he's right really, she would have failed the normal assessment . . .
What I meant, in response to LordBrownof's post, was that it was just a theoretical thing and that Donna Vekic would of course never actually have been considered for LTA funding.
