I'm not sure Katie B was an underdog. I expected her to win that match and she is a set and a break up. I think she will be top 500quickly when she goes full time on the senior tour.
Freya could be a difficult match to call if on top form.
So just Harriet, Katy, Lucy and Jade have won so far with Katie and Freya to finish and start respectively. I had six to go through, but that may be slightly optomistic.
You're right. I'd got it into my head that the Finnish girl was higher ranked than she is. However, good that katie B won easily. And first one to take out a 'foreigner'. And, also agree, she'll have no trouble being top500 when she starts the senior tour next autumn (if nothing's changed).
Freya is certainly the underdog but definitely an interesting match and 'winnable' given her recent scores against better ranked players (not that that is a major indicator but all the same)
It's been fairly obvious for a couple of years that our best 3 prospects are Katy, Katie, and Harriet and in tht order too. All will be too 500 within a year.
Very interesting, Katy vs Katie. I do think that Katie will ultimately go higher ( and I may be very wrong ! ), but whether she can win here and now maybe still depends on Katy not being at her best.

I'd put Freya higher, at number one. But she is a year or two younger so won't be challenging on the senior tour quite so soon.
NB I'd also put Katie B above Katy D.
PS Eleanor Dean would also be in the top three if she's not too injured. But that's a big picture thing. And there's very little info out there as to the sate of her health.

Eleanor is still technically a junior and i think is top of that list
and if you want to go down the ages, you need to add Freya, Katie Swan and Jodie as players that should all break top 500 when they play senior tour regularly.
edit - looks like CD and i had the same thoughts.

There certainly currently looks to be many more really promising GB junior girl prospects than junior boy prospects.
Hopefully in a few years the top 25 women's table will be looking much deeper and healthier than it does currently. Just hope not too many are "kidnapped" to US Colleges, fine programs though they may have.

I'm not too bothered if they come back and do well later ... and haven't been 'converted' into doubles specialists. Those are big "ifs" though, obviously.

Frankly, after watching Rona play yesterday and today against Pera, im excited. Shes got everything. She has what it takes to make it to the top. And she will. i believe she is just starting to breakthrough and really show us what shes got and once she unleashes her potential and wins her first event she will be unstoppable.
