RE: Week 15 - ITF ($10K) - Gloucester, UK - Hard

Great result Rona. Another girl who gives 100% on the court and is a pleasure to watch (not in the same way as Mollie, it's more conventional, but absolute effort and commitment).
Is that her best ever win?

It's her 3rd best ranking scalp but the other two were wins against Dasha last year, so you could argue that it is.

Draw is out - The top two seeds have very easy draws.

Katy Dunne should win her first main draw match since Mid Jan.

Freya, Jasmine and Rona have awkward matches.

Got a funny feeling that the bottom quarter could be an all GB second round - Katy v Katie and Beth v Jade.

Expect 6 British winners from the 12 GB matches

I see there is a GB girl in the doubles (very sparsely entered) that didn't enter the singles - Laura Sainsbury.

Jade and Katie will win the doubles.

Would be nice to see Katy get her groove back here.

Good luck gals

I don't know Olivia but I've seen Beth Askew play a couple of times - she's an athletic, correct player but there's not much more than that, imho.

I quite like Mollie Crouch too - I don't mean that she's going anywhere major with her tennis, and Laruen should win, but it's a different style and quite fun to watch.

Different style how? I've never seen Mollie play so I'm just curious smile

Just my impression so take with a pinch of salt but . . .:

Mollie is technically all a bit dodgy (grip, takeback, construction of shot) but that makes it a bit unpredictable which is curious in itself. And she has a way of often launching her whole bodyweight into the ball, literally throwing herself at the ball, which is fun and quite infectious when you watch. And she's a tall, powerful girl so it makes an impact. And it reflects the thing I noticed, which was that she seems to really enjoy her tennis, which also makes it nice to watch. There's a bit of the EWS going on, an enthusiasm that is enjoyable, if not a technically clean game.

Also, the last time I saw her she had a great 'look' - a bit 'street', rather in the Bethanie Mattek-Sands vein. Which also makes a quite a refreshing change. I wish her well. smile

 Thanks for the info!

Interesting to see all these girls getting a chance at competive matches in a home 10K after all these Naomi / Sam / Tara benefit 25Ks.

itf live score being ahem "sub-optimal" again
big leaps in scores and such - for those matches that are working at all

eden lost the first set 1-6

Rona lost 5 & 3 though given that she was playing the 3rd seed, that's quite impressive.

Nicola George just lost the first set against the top seed WR261: 5-7
There was only one total point difference between them in that set.

Harriet took the first set off Georgina: 6-4 *0-1

Lucy won the first against Fran: 6-3
