Week 15 - ITF ($10K) - Gloucester, UK - Hard

Lots of Brits will be in the main draw here, with Jade likely to be the 2nd seed and Katy likely to scrape a seeding too.

All QR1 matches involve only unranked players.

QR1: Katarzyna Pitak v Natalie Hepburn - winner to play (q1) Freya Christie WR 1018 in the FQR
QR1: Cecily Wuenscher v Kyria Dunford - winner to play (q2) Harriet Dart WR 1028 in the FQR
QR1: Georgia Lawson v Alannah Griffin - winner to play (q3) Francesca Stephenson WR 1080 in the FQR
QR1: Rona Berisha v Kate Lucy - winner to play (q4) Nora Niedmers (GER) WR 1122 in the FQR
QR1: Amelia Stuart v Molly Reed - winner to play (q5) Mariam Bolkvadze (GEO) WR 1194 in the FQR
QR1: Darinka Tiboldi v Olivia Horn - winner to play (q6) Beth Askew WR 1214 in the FQR
QR1: Mollie Crouch v Vimbai Patience (ZIM) - winner to play (q7) Lauren McMinn WR 1214 in the FQR
QR1: Farah Abdelaziz v Lauren Harrington - winner to play Louise Ronaldson UNR in the FQR

Great to see Fran in an ITF draw again (after more than 6 months out recovering from a broken fibula, in case anyone didn't know)

Really disappointing to see so few of our girls having a go. I know it's school holiday season and the younger ones are mainly playing the junior circuit.

Looks like Jess Simpson has made main draw(possibly 2 dropped out from final acceptance list)

5 GB qualifiers guaranteed though.

Jess Simpson tweeted yesterday that she's got a stress injury in her foot (ANOTHER foot injury). She said it's minor but there was a picture of her in a boot thing so my guess is she's not playing.

Another 11 British players were on the Qualifier and Alternates lists that have not appeared in Q draw. Whether they dropped out, got promoted to the main draw or were excluded because the organisers decided to limit the intake is not clear.

The qualifying draw does look a bit neat with 24 participants. But that does seem unnecessarily restrictive if it has been limited. Surely they could be prepared to go to 32 and just give the top seeds byes if less.

Maybe it did just happen to end up at 24.

Kataryna Pitak is, I believe, the sister of Ola, the 12 year-old who did so well a week or two ago at the British Tour event. Both coached by their dad.

Should be straight forward wins for Freya, Harriet, Mariam, Beth and Lauren.

Not sure how Fran will fare, Rona's match could be close. I would expect Louise to squeeze past Farah.

Good to see Jasmine Asghar get a wild card - only one win away from her first ranking.

Nice to see the GB girls playing proper matches at their level. With something worthwhile to play for. And a real chance for the better ones to do something noteworthy.

With 9 in the MD, and a minimum of 6 GB qualifiers, they'll be a lot of interest and with well over half the MD players being ranked outside the top 500, there will be chances even against them.

the 25 ks were getting on my nerves :)

Molly, with a 'y', won the first 2 games against Bolkvadze, but then lost the next 6 to lose the first set: 6-2 *1-2

Farah took the first set from Louise: 6-1

Sara Beth vs Olivia is 5-5* - with 8 breaks of serve. Olivia had a set point, but SBA managed her first hold.

Mollie, with an 'ie', and Lauren have had 2 breaks so far: *4-4

I don't know Olivia but I've seen Beth Askew play a couple of times - she's an athletic, correct player but there's not much more than that, imho.

I quite like Mollie Crouch too - I don't mean that she's going anywhere major with her tennis, and Laruen should win, but it's a different style and quite fun to watch.

Molly going well in set 2: 2-6 *3-2

Farah & Louise even in the second: 6-1 2-2*

SBA too the first set in the end in the TB: 7-6(3)

Mollie & Lauren in a close match so far now into the TB: 6-6
