Liam is also a break up in the 2nd set at 4-2*

And Liam serves out the match 6-4 6-4

Most telling stat was probably BP conversions.

Liam 2/4
Klec 0/8

All in all and very decent win.

The break points I believe were either all or mostly in the 1st set, so for me that is comfortably Liam's best performance of season on paper.

I felt last week was an improvement so really encouraging to see that trend continuing this week.

Just seen that James won 6-4 6-4 -- against the WR 359 ! Best result of the day.

In fact, the Solvakian seeds had a grim day, both losing their singles to GB boys. And, playing together, losing the doubles in a MTB to Oli and partner

My guess is that Luke was 4-6 down in the tiebreak and the following point was recorded incorrectly and then they couldn't undo it (*) - that's usually how these wrong match-winner errors seem to happen. Great news and fightback anyway

It turned out to be a near-perfect day for the Brits here, James getting his revenge for that 2012 defeat by Semjan too

L32: James Marsalek WR 612 beat (5) Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 359 (CH 218 in 2010) by 4 & 4
L32: (4) Oli Golding WR 352 beat (JE) Michael Mmoh (USA) WR 1931 (16yo junior WR 9) by 3-6 6-0 6-3
L32: (7) Ashley Hewitt WR 412 beat (WC) Abdulla Al-Jufairi (QAT) UNR (16yo) by 0 & 1
L32: Liam Broady WR 468 beat (6) Ivo Klec (SVK) WR 393 (CH 184 in 2006) by 4 & 4
L32: Luke Bambridge WR 611 beat (Q) Javier Pulgar-García (ESP) WR 1086 (CH 1074 in Feb) by 1-6 7-6(6) 7-5

L16: James Marsalek WR 612 v Antoine Benneteau (FRA) WR 497 (CH 370 last Apr)
L16: (4) Oli Golding WR 352 v Jacob Adaktusson (SWE) WR 685 (33yo, CH 214 in 2006)
L16: (7) Ashley Hewitt WR 412 v (Q) Lorenzo Frigerio (ITA) WR 1006 (CH 796 last Apr)
L16: Liam Broady WR 468 v Jaime Pulgar-García (ESP) WR 580 (CH 572 in Feb)
L16: Luke Bambridge WR 611 v (2) Chen Ti (TPE) WR 287 (CH 200 last May)

Edit: (*) I checked with Luke and he confirms that is exactly what happened: "@GBtennis yep down 64 and won it 86."

Good wins for Liam and James.

James' best win since beating Jules Marie in this very event last year.

Wow, great day for the Brits, considering one had allegedly lost and two were playing seeds!

Sounds like a cracking comeback from Luke having saved at least 2MPs. Must have been heart-breaking for the Spaniard.
