Excellent! Wasn't expecting that at all. Excellent point gain, and the money can't harm them! ;)

This'll also give each of them a £150 cheque from the LTA. As well as prize money. And as well as the £300 LTA one Marcus got for making the FQR in the singles.

Hahaha!

Well done to the lads! Looking so promising for them right now, basically nothing to defend until after Wimbledon!

Unlucky for the lads there, would've been nice to pinch that first set TB and get on the front foot.

Think Marcus defending 18 doubles  points before Wimbie

Said prior to tough QF had some big postives particularly the huge win ratio , the understanding compared with a scratch pair and desire to seize the opportunity .

Now I have done my bit will the Lta give us Louis cayer and invest in a future Davis cup

Pair ??????

A1, I'm thrilled for the two of them but I think there is something about 'one swallow does not a summer make' and all that.

It's only one good tournament - albeit one out of one.

And there are lots of top doubles players in the UK, mainly without the LTA's support.

The LTA does not prioritise doubles, partly because, short of a bit of fun at Wimbeldon and the Daivs Cup, the public are not interested and it doesn't 'matter'. It doesn't even really matter for the Daivs Cup - there are 4 singles matches and Andy, our top singles guy, will probably play doubles over and above all the top doubles guys, in an important match. Adn secondly because, as already mentioned, the GB already has a large-ish number of very good doubles players. The LTA is focused on singles. (Quite rightly in my view, given the above).

Just keep guiding their careers to be the best possible and the rest will take care of itself.

Yes, all the best to them, though one more mention of that win ratio without more context...

Save it for those who you wish to impress, but are maybe not members of a dedicated tennis forum.

PS : I do accept that repeatedly winning in itself can breed confidence, perhaps even such as here when then facing tougher opponents.

It's really the repeated more specific xx% win ratios that I have issues with, when bearing in mind much of that futures opposition.

I think I will put some money on Meffert and Putz winning that one  (forgive the lack of umlaut on Putz, it's too much hassle to look up on Character Map and I don't use it often enough to know the code!)
