RE: Week 14 - Qatar F1 ($10,000) - Doha (Hard)

Found the result via Liam's twitter

'Won my match this morning 6-3 in the third then went out to Coxy this evening 6-3 7-6 6-2. #Tough'

Particularly tough to make them play a 5-setter ... I assume Liam got one of those set scores the wrong way round!

Edit: given that Dan was 5-3 up in the 1st set when the scoring stopped, it must have been the 2nd set that Liam won.

Can a Briton count as a Brit-basher? Hope he doesn't do what most Brit-bashers do and go out in the next round! Well done to Mr Cox (and to Messrs Broady and Bambridge for pushing him so hard) ... and good luck for the next round.

Benneteau/Bambridge appear to have give a w/o in the doubles. Mr Cox and Mr Short are on now.

QF: (1) Dan Cox WR 233 beat (6) Liam Broady WR 471 by 6-3 6-7(2) 6-2

SF: (1) Dan Cox WR 233 v (4) Marek Semjan (SVK) WR 359 (CH 218 in 2010)

They have met once before, in last year's Final here, Semjan edging a desperately close match 8-6 in a 3rd set tiebreak.

Has Dan played his SF yet?

He should have - he was due on at the same time as the other SF, which has already finished. I think they must have used the same dodgy scoring gadget for his match as yesterday

Could do with a big few wins to ensure his Wimbledon WC and with that mountain of points to defend looming!

His Wimbledon WC should not be in doubt - all the big points came between July and Sept.

Dan has only 20pts to defend until the start of July and he has already covered 10pts this week.

Even if he doesn't win another point he can replace the other 10pts with a 2 pointer which will be enough for top 250.
