RE: Week 14 - Qatar F1 ($10,000) - Doha (Hard)

Is Doha not in the middle of a desert?

Bad light must be stopping play soon as well.

More like on the edge of a desert but its climate classification is indeed "hot desert climate" - it gets an average of 8.8 days of rain per year

These appear to be the scores when play was suspended for the last time (though they are unchanged since the 3rd delay so I'm not 100% certain yet) - the last one thanks to Liam since it still hasn't reappeared on livescores:

L16: (1) Dan Cox WR 233 trails Luke Bambridge WR 613 by 1-6 6-2 *2-2 (0-40)
L16: (6) Liam Broady WR 471 trails Pete Heller (GER) WR 667 (CH 430 last May) by 4-6 4-4* but has bp 30-40 on the German's serve
L16: Josh Ward-Hibbert WR 698 leads (3) Chen Ti (TPE) WR 285 (CH 200 last May) by 6-2 *5-6

Looks like JWH and Laim got a W/O victory in their doubles - guess the others (or maybe just the Dutchman) didn't fancy hanging around - anyway, the Brits are through to the semis

Good stuff.

With Luke seeming to be playing well so far this season and Dan off his best, I thought Luke might give Dan a good fight.

I think Dan will now also get the better of Liam, who I'd say Luke has at least been matching of late.

I'd be very surprised if Liam were to upset Dan.

Those stop-start matches must have been very tricky. Not surprising to see that the better ranked/more experienced player won in every single case.

So after all the seeds lost the 1st set, they all prevailed in the end! The 2nd set tiebreak score in Josh's match was 8-6, so it was very close.

The ITF H2H for Dan v Liam is 1-1 - Dan won with a 3rd set bagel in Edinburgh in 2010 but Liam won 2 & 2 in Sheffield last year.

Dan was 5-3 up in the 1st set when another scoring gadget apparently bit the dust
