Obviously it's very unfortunate that so many are injured (6), but allowing for them, Mel's retirement, 2 at college in US, and all the rest - 11 have played within the last 3 weeks.
What we don't want to see is people not playing for gaps of several weeks with no obvious explanation. The men are similarly active, there are only 3 (Alex B, Josh G and Fitzy who are not currently playing for very good reasons - the only exception I think is BK who seems to go awol for a few weeks at a time.
It's generally a quiet week as we start to switch over from hard to clay and the players that want to play hardcourts are going to far flung places to find them.
I wasn't complaining that so few were playing :) Everyone has to have training blocks. And rest periods etc.
And, yes, paulisi, excatly, with the clay season coming there's work to be done. (Caro Wozn. was tweeting about how she's run 70k, cycled Lord knows how many k, etc.etc., all hashtag gettingreadyforclayseason.
But it was just nice to see that, at the beginning of the week, i thought there'd only be one or two left by now - and there they are, all five of them ! (Thursday may be a bit of a watershed day but hey . . .)
However, yes Miriambee, I'd be curious to know what the likes of Lucy Brown are up to at the moment. . . .
Lucy Brown doesn't seem to do much overseas travel at present and just tends to play the domestic tournaments. Previous comments on twitter suggests she lives on a farm, so maybe she is helping on the farm and playing tennis part time.
