Boys & Girls: Campeonato Internacional Juvenil de Tenis de Porto Alegre, Brazil, clay - Grade A (Week 13)

The first non Grand Slam Grade A of the year sees Emily Arbuthnott join the two Brits who played the Banana Bowl. All have good first round draws. There is a stream - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/campeonato-internacional-juvenil-de-tenis-de-porto-alegre - which might include the girls as they are playing home opposition, though the odds are against. The oop should be available tomorrow at http://www.campeonatointernacional.com.br/ (click on Programacao)

Boys R1 (L64)

Alexander Sendegeya (GBR) v Alex Gustavo Ruiz Diaz (PAR)

Girls R1 (L64)

(Q) Ana Luiza Farinha (BRA) v Emily Arbuthnott (GBR)

Gabriella Taylor (GBR) v (WC) Ana Laura John (BRA)

Court 1 is streamed (currently on 5th match) and available by scrolling down the host website www.campeonatointernacional.com.br The ustream link appears to be for lower age matches. Gabi and Emily were on court 2, but no sign of results. Alex is due around now on an outside court

Neither girl dropped a game. Unfortunately their round 2 matches will probably be against the Banana Bowl finalists, who play tomorrow.

Girls R1 (L64)

Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) d. (Q) Ana Luiza Farinha (BRA) 4-0 rtd
Gabriella Taylor (GBR) d. (WC) Ana Laura John (BRA) 6-0 6-0

Alex comfortably made it 3 into round 2, but all will be up against it tomorrow. As expected the Banana Bowl finalists came through today to face Emily and Gabi. Frustrating for Emily in that she only needed one withdrawal to be seeded.

Boys R1 (L64)

Alexander Sendegeya (GBR) d. Alex Gustavo Ruiz Diaz (PAR) 6-3 6-2

R2

Alexander Sendegeya (GBR) v (5) Matias Zukas (ARG)

Girls R2

Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) v (7) Renata Zarazua (MEX)
(14) Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (ESP) v Gabriella Taylor (GBR)

Gabi seems to have put in a good performance but sadly (according to Aliona's twitter feed) had to retire trailing 4-6 6-4 4-2 against last week's champiion

A rude awakening for Emily. Meanwhile Madison Bourguignon, the girl who narrowly edged out Anna Brogan twice recently, has just upset a seed to reach round 3.

Girls R2

(7) Renata Zarazua (MEX) d. Emily Arbuthnott (GBR) 6-4 6-0
(14) Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (ESP) d. Gabriella Taylor (GBR) 4-6 6-4 4-2 rtd

As expected British interest here is now down to doubles, with Alex and Emily in their respective quarter-finals

Just Alex left in doubles (coming from a 0-6 first set to eke out a 12-10 win in the match tiebreak), and his semi is on the streamed court not before 8.30pm GMT tonight

Boys Doubles SF

(1) Halys/Tatlot (FRA) v (8) Jasika/Sendegeya (AUS/GBR)

Quentin (Halys) gained the upper hand over Omar (Jasika) in both singles and doubles. Gabi's conqueror has rattled off her 9th successive win to reach the semis.
