RE: Week 13 - Bahrain F1 ($10,000) - Manama (Hard)

Serving to stay in the match, bet365 showed JWH 2 match points down then corrected the score to 30-30 - phew! He then had game point but now back to deuce.

Josh held, Bréchemier held more easily and Josh then went 0-30 down before serving 2 aces to make it 30-30 ... but now faces match point

3 Brits through but not a great day, though maybe the CH of the player Matt lost to and the junior ranking of the player JWH lost to should have made it clear that they might be facing tough matches.

It's a good job the girls are batting 4 out of 4 today.

What with here, and Turkey, the guys have had a rather disappointing day.

That's a pretty awful result for JWH.

Bambo will probably play the top seed in the QF, Liam the 5th seed.

It will be a good judge of form of how they get on.

And Dan gets broken pretty much straight off - maybe I underestimated young Thomas :(

Dan dropped the first set.

However i did state that i didn't think conditions would suit Dan. Generally due to the heat they tend to suit players with big serves and big shots as rallies tend to be minimal.
Also Dan's travels from the US may take their toll.

I don't think Thomas has particularly big shots or a big serve.

Although he might have had a growth spurt recently, he's only 17.

Perhaps this has put a different perspective on JWHs performance yesterday.

Dan C *5-5 in the 2nd

To say that the young Frenchmen is becoming a bit annoying this week would be putting it mildly - he wins 6 of the last 7 games from *1-4 down in the 2nd

L16: (7) Luke Bambridge WR 616 beat (WC) Hasan Abdulnabi (BRN) UNR by 2 & 1
L16: (3) Liam Broady WR 460 beat Christian Hirschmüller (GER) WR 1221 (CH 901 in Nov) by 3 & 0
L16: (2) Dan Cox WR 243 lost to (Q) Thomas Bréchemier (FRA) WR 1598 (junior WR 104) by 3 & 5

QF: (7) Luke Bambridge WR 616 v (1) Jordi Samper Montańa (ESP) WR 234 (CH 211 in Sep)
QF: (3) Liam Broady WR 460 v (5) Julien Cagnina (BEL) WR 501 (CH 472 in Oct)

Liam H2H v Cagnina - 2-0, both in juniors - 2 & 1 at Eddie Herr 2011 then 3 & 3 at Roland Garros in 2012

Come back JWH - all is forgiven.

But the French lad didn't manage a single ace (against 3 from Dan) and the stats aren't great. So I'm not convinced about the serve/big shot thing.

Seems like he irritatingly hangs around and refuses to go away. But it's still not too impressive from Dan, whichever way you cut and dice it.
