H2H 1-0, 3 sets Aptos Challenger R2 last summer

If I remember rightly Wang developed a bit of a cult following during the Aussie qualies, earlier this year, so a fan favourite, but hopefully not enough quality to trouble Evo.

I think that is enough of the WC's for Kyle.

Yes its good experience, but its taking him away from the level he should be working through right now (like all the other brits with similar rankings) which is definitely futures/challengers.

Who is responsible for Kyle getting all these WC's?

Presumably his management company - I think he's with IMG and, if I remember correctly, they have a stake in the Miami event too.

L96: (WC) Kyle Edmund WR 298 v Julien Benneteau (FRA) WR 52 (CH 26 in 2012)

Benneteau reached the QFs in Indian Wells last week. The winner plays Gulbis in R2.

Going to tricky, but will be interesting to see how he competes against a top 50 (ish) player.  I think he will put up a good fight

For some reason I was expecting a three-step QR system, so nice to see Dan get to the FQR sooner than I expected. Fully confident that Dan can beat Wang, and nice to see some kind Q spots in the MD. Here's hoping.

Most important for me is that Dan seems to have recovered completely from his dodgy knee. Let's hope it stays that way. Excellent win too.

Potential Qualifier Spots

Q v Bautista Agut
Q v De Shepper
Q v Pella (WC)
Q v Q
Q v Robert
Q v Karlovic
Q v Hanescu
Q v Zeballos
Q v Gonzalez
Q v Rosol
Q v Dodig

Tempted to say that I was amazed that not a single qualifier drew a seeded player in R1, but then I realised that ALL the seeds have Byes into R2.

Preferably, it would be somewhere between Agut and Rosol. However, I'd take anything, presuming that he wins anyhow.

I agree, I even went as far as to look at the group of 4 below  in the draw wondering whether he would play PHM or Bemelmans in an FQR, and thinking that would be real tough, then realising that it's not going to happen.

All being well and given how well he must have played today, he should do well tomorrow.
Three guys in the MD of a Masters will be amazing!

Just a reminder.

ATP 250s and Challengers always* have 3 rounds of qualifying (32 man qualifying draw for 4 places regardless of main draw size)

ATP 500s and Masters series always have 2 rounds of qualifying (qualifying draw size half that of the main draw size)

* The obvious exception is if 16 or fewer players turn up for qualifying.

Thanks for the "reminder".

I did, err of course, know that really :)

10 am Florida time is actually now 2 pm GMT ( since they've already moved over to Daylight Saving Time )

PS : and so should we earlier - let there be light in the evenings !

It's interesting, in the fall they go 1 week early, and in the spring they go 3 weeks early, go figure.

Continuing at a tangent, I do think that we ( and I presume the rest of Europe ) are particularly late in switching to BST.

Maybe something in the name. The Americans seem logically to more link the time change to "daylight" rather than how far we may be away from "summer".
