If Oli keeps playing at this level, his ranking will slowly rise, so a disappointment, but the big picture still positive.

Oli progressing, and could now reach a new CH of about WR 350.

His stated target for the year end is WR 250, and I really would like to see him at least get to that point before 2015.

It can be good to be pholosophical, and he does seem to be maturing. But just reading some discussion about James Ward, Oli better get a move on before the LTA think he's too old !

Hopefully the collective Dans have given pointed indicators as to how promising young players' rises tend to be far from linear and there can be seeming lulls and then further big moves. And we know that can happen past the mid 20s too.

I know you can't make a convincing argument that 'if X had beaten Y, the X would have gone on to achieve what Y did' . ..

But Oli lost in a third-set TB to Hernych, who DID go on and win the tourney, no problem, so it really was a good result from Oli and so close . . ..
