Could be a good tournament to follow with Sam and Anna in main draw and hopefully Eleanor picking up more points. Presumably Anna and Joss in doubles and potentially Sam as well.

If Anna and Joss are competing in doubles in this 10K, it can't currently add anything in ranking terms for them since neither can score more than their current last ( 11th ) counter.

But still more matchplay, and prize money and a title to go for.

Presumably having the same issue in dubs as Naomi in singles - nothing above 10K on offer.  Does anyone know if the ITF stipulate how the different levels of tournament are spread through the year or is it up to each hosting country to decide what level of event and when?

I was just wondering when Eleanor was going to be back.

Hope she can pick up where she left off

However Jess lost 6-1 6-1

FQR: [16] DEAN, Eleanor (GBR) 929 v ADLER, Lou (FRA) UNR

Eleanor should win this. The French girl is 17 and has no pedigree at junior level.

Well, in seniors, Lou Adler beat Boev, the WTA WR 578 only a month back, and Mia Eklund WTA WR 941, also a month back.

But those are her two best results this year. And she's lost a fair few too. I think Eleanor should still win.

NB And Lou's just beaten the WTA WR 746 in QR2

Eleanor comes through beautifully - and then draws the second seed !

With Anna and Eleanor's matches due to meet in rnd 2

No Joss and some odd doubles pairings. Anna top seed with a Czech girl, Jess is playing with a Russian, Antonia Smallbone appears with a wildcard partnering a Japanese girl and Sam has paired up with Team Bath team mate Amy Bowtell.

Looked up a bit of extra info for Twitter use, so I might as well put it here too.

L32: (1) Samantha Murray WR 230 v (Q) Evelina Virtanen (SWE) UNR (CH 915 in 2012)
L32: Anna Smith WR 486 v (WC) Agni Stefanou (GRE) WR 731 (CH 689 in Oct)
L32: (Q) Eleanor Dean WR 929 v (2) Deniz Khazaniuk (ISR) WR 311 (=CH)

The winners of the last two matches above meet in R2. Khazaniuk won the title here this week so it's going to be a tough task for Eleanor to extend her now 8-match winning streak.

Just be glad Eleanor is not playing Khazaniuk in a $10K Israel.
She is, to all intents and purposes, apparently unbeatable at this level in her home country; being 25-0 there in the last year!

She's had trouble trying to step up, and has dropped back down to immediate success again.
A tough test indeed for R1 in a venue where Brits in the 850-900 bracket have even been seeded in the last year.
