Gee, I'm no apoligist for Evo, but let's give him a break, at least until we maybe hear more, and given he has had an injury.

 Precisely. After all he pulled out of Indian Wells due to injury, so it's not impossible (in fact it's highly likely) he has not fully recovered.....and may have aggravated something again. Benefit of the doubt this time, methinks!

QR2: (q1) Dan Evans WR 125 lost to John-Patrick Smith (AUS) WR 219 (CH 205 in Oct) by 7-6(1) 4-2 ret.

Decent effort by Samm - to pre-qualify, win QR1 convincingly and take 6 games off a player in the top 150.
